How do I know which model to use if I
have 1 computer, Inkjet printer with 15" screen and a TV without
dish and DVR/Video machine to keep on working for 8 hours if the
power stays off for that long?
Answer: The INX500-5 model will do the job perfectly, provided that
the above equipment does not exceed 200W. If the power comes back
on after 8 hours, the system will charge the battery automatically
within 4 hours and the system will be ready for the next power failure.
If you need less back-up time for the same equipment above, simply
choose the model with 4 hours or 2 hours whatever your preference
may be.
If you have 2 computers, 1 laserjet printer, 1 TV, satellite dish,
and VCR/DVD, - not exceeding 400w, the INX1000 models are the range
to use. Simply choose the back-up time you need in case of a power
failure.
PS. We always recommend spare capacity of 1/3, so that the system
do not overload if a surge occur.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes, we offer a full 12 month carry in warranty on all units.
If I plug in too many electric devices,
will the system overload?
Answer: The red overload light and buzzer will warn you immediately
if you have too many devices plugged in. Simply unplug one or more
devices until the warning light and buzzer stop.
What is the most practical way to use the power boxes?
Answer: Plug the input plug into your 220V wall socket. Plug your
devices into the output plug provided. Switch the Inverex on - the
green light will show if everything is OK. Leave the unit on permanently
and use your equipment as normal - even when the power is on. The
system will take care of the power failures and will switch over
smoothly and automatically. Recharging is also automatically when
the power comes back on. You've got nothing to do.
What does one do when a long power failure
occurs?
Answer: Your plugged in equipment will carry on working for up to
8 hours automatically. Your equipment would not even know there
is a power failure. In a household situation you would normally
have a Cadac gas cylinder with a cooking top handy to prepare food
and hot drinks and have rechargeable lamps and candles ready when
it gets dark.
Do I really need a powerbox?
Answer: Eskom has warned that they are planning power cuts from
May 2006 throughout the winter in most regions, especially in the
Western Cape. This means that there might be power outages every
day for 4 hours or longer for months. Yes you do need a Powerbox.
Does your inverex 1000-5 inverter come
with a battery and what is the total mass of this unit?
Yes they all come with batteries - the size and weight depends on
what runtime they need as we have different battery sizes for each
runtime option. 8hr option approx 30kg in total.
Is the battery “built-in”
to the inverter as with a ups or do these inverters use a separate
battery unit?
The inverex is housed on top of the battery cabinet - with the 1kva
with 8 hours we make use of 2 cabinets - total dimentions of the
inverex with cabinet is: 410 x410 x 250.
What is the total mass of the unit? –
We would like to order but courier costs could be prohibitive.
8 hour option is 25kg for battery, approx 2.5kg for inverex and
empty cabinet. Also remember that shipping is already included in
our prices.
What is a reasonable service life of
the inverters?
Same as a UPS.
What happens when the battery no longer
holds a charge?
Replace the battery
What do the replacement batteries cost
and what type of battery is used?
